SCB sends Rs 23-cr proposal to government

Cuttack, August 13: The SCB Medical College and Hospital authorities have planned several projects to provide better healthcare to the people.
Sources said the authorities have sent a proposal of Rs 23 crore to the state government for a slew of new projects.
According sources, SCB authorities have planned to shift the cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery (CTVS) department to the fourth floor of a new building on the hospital premises. The department will have 10 intensive care units (ICUs) and two modern operation theatres (OTs) at its new location.
The hospital authorities have also proposed to set up a high dependency unit (HDU) at the tuberculosis and chest department. The HDU will have 10 beds to provide better care to serious patients. At present, the department is depending upon the ICUs of medicine ward for critically-ill patients, a SCB official said.
SCB sources said authorities have proposed the government to establish a liver transplantation unit and procure advanced equipment for bone marrow transplantation at haematology department.
“Authorities have planned to purchase an operating microscope for plastic surgery department and set up infectious disease ward. Besides, a proposal has been mooted for the establishment of a toilet complex on the hospital premises for the convenience of patients and their attendants,” a doctor said.
SCB superintendent Pratap Rath said, “The health department has accepted our proposal for new facilities at the hospital. We will soon complete the renovation work at the casualty ward.”
