Kendrapara: Two Class II girl students at the Adhajodi Project Upper Primary School suffered head injuries when a portion of the roof plaster of the building fell on them.
The girls were rushed to the Pattamundai Sub-Divisional Hospital, Collector Dasarathi Satapathy said.
The injured girls are Banya Nayak and Barsha Priyadarshini Pradhan. They suffered head and leg injuries.
The incident occurred when a portion of the roof plaster fell on them while the girls and their classmates were attending classes.
Locals said the school building was constructed two years back, and that the mishap occurred due to substandard work.
Local MLA Anshuman Mohanty rushed to the school to take stock of the situation and to meet the injured girls.
Collector Dasarathi Satapathy directed the block education officer of Pattamundai to hold an inquiry and submit a detailed report within 24 hours.
