Bhubaneswar: In view of the heatwave conditions, all the schools in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts will reopen June 22 instead of June 21, notifications issued by the respective district administrations informed Tuesday.
The classes will be commenced from 6:30am to 10am in the aforementioned districts from June 22 to June 24, it stated.
As per the latest information from School and Mass Education Department, all schools located in the remaining districts in Odisha except Sambalpur and Jharsuguda will reopen June 21, 2023 (Wednesday).
The Sambalpur district administration announced that schools will begin to function at their usual timings from June 26 onwards in the district.
The District Education Officer of Jharsuguda informed that any change in the schedule will be informed later.
It can be mentioned here that the Odisha government had earlier asked collectors of seven districts – Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Subarnapur and Bolangir – to either extend holidays or switch to morning classes due to scorching heat.
The regional centre of IMD Bhubaneswar in its weather alert June 20, 2023 informed that the maximum temperature (day) is very likely to fall further by 3 to 5 degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next three days and no large change thereafter.
