School timings for Class 9 to 12 students rescheduled as Odisha braces for heatwave

Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department Friday afternoon rescheduled the usual timings of students from Class IX to XII to morning hours with effect from coming March 1.

As a precautionary measure to tackle the heatwave condition for school students, Additional Secretary to Government Pratap Kumar Mishra issued a circular to all Directors under the S&ME department as well as District Education Officers in this regard.

According to sources, the timing of Class IX and XI students which were previously being conducted from 8.30am to 10.00am has been rescheduled to 7.00am to 9.00am. Likewise, the timing of Class X and XII students which were being conducted from 11.00am to 4.00pm has been rescheduled to 9.00am to 1.00pm, the sources added.

The present guidelines have to be followed in addition to the earlier instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) already issued by the department on COVID-19 safety protocols, Mishra said.
