Scribe attacked, hospitalised

Soro: A journalist was critically injured in an attack by two men here in Balasore Saturday night. He was admitted to Soro hospital.

Pramod Kumar Rout (38), a resident of Baghua under Basudevpur police limits, was on his way to his sister’s house at Anantapur at 9.30 pm. Some people at that time were attacking an elderly man at Matha Chhak near Gudagram. Rout halted and wanted to know what was going on.

Bauna Behera of Soro and Ramesh Roul abused Rout and assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon. The two claimed that they were bootleggers.

The accused also snatched a cell phone and Rs 845 from the scribe.

Rout’s cousin Satyanarayan Rout filed a complaint at Soro police station. Police registered a case and started an investigation. Various quarters have condemned the incident and demanded action against the accused.
