Puri: Post-graduate girl students of Puri Samanta Chandra Sekhara (SCS) College pledged for a plastic and polythene-free Odisha in support of the plastic-free campaign launched by Orissa POST and Dharitri.
The students also promised to intensify the drive against plastic.
Jyotimayee Panda, a second year student, said that plastic is the main reason for environmental pollution. Plastic and polythene bags contribute to destruction of the biodiversity, she added. She also said that she would launch a campaign on the social media in this regard. Another student Kamlolini Jena said that the drive launched by Orissa POST and Dharitri is creating mass awareness against the use of plastic. Efforts are being made to involve the students of other departments in the campaign, she added.
Swarnamudra Biswal, Bhgyashree Behera, Nityalagna Mishra, Padmini Ojha and Karishma Swain among others participated in the occasion.
