Season’s first swine flu patient detected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The first swine flu case of the season was reported in the state Sunday after the swab sample of a woman tested positive for H1N1 virus.

The patient of Nachuni in Khurda district complained of cold and cough following which she was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Suspecting swine flu infection, the swab sample was sent for examination. The sample was tested positive for H1N1 virus at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC).

The doctors are yet to find out how the 23-year-old woman got infected since she has no travel history.

Notably, around 400 cases were tested positive out of which as many as 50 people died due to H1N1 infection.
