Second evening leaves audience spellbound

Rourkela: The second evening of the mega cultural event ‘Vedvyas Sangeet Nrutyotsav-2023’ being organised by Bhanja Kala Kendra at the Bhanja Bhawan here witnessed a record number of an enthusiastic audience. The cultural evening began with a captivating ‘guitar concert’ by the artistes of Bhanja Kala Kendra under the direction of Anil Kumar Dutta. They kept the audience glued to their seats and received a standing ovation when the performance was over.

Next in the queue was a riveting Kathak performance by internationally acclaimed exponent Ashim Bandhu Bhattacharjee and his troupe from Kolkata. The nearly one-hour display of classical Kathak was a sheer visual delight for all. Then came the scintillating Gotipua performance by ‘Abhinna Sundar Gotipua Nrutya Parishad’ led by Laxman Moharana and his troupe from Raghurajpur followed by a popular Sambapuri folk dance by ‘Sangeet Parishad’ led by Rajesh Gurla from Padmapur. Both the performances kept the audience enthralled. The open-air auditorium remained almost packed until the curtains came down.

Internationally acclaimed artistes from different parts of India are performing in the five-day-long extravaganza of classical dance and music. Raghunathpalli MLA Subrat Tarai graced the evening as the chief guest and inaugurated the programme. He congratulated the members of Bhanja Kala Kendra for organising such an event for the last 26 years and bringing national recognition to the art forms.
