Kendrapara: In order to avert any untoward incident and to maintain the law and order in Kendrapara, the district administration Saturday night imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC following the death of gangster Sheikh Hyder after a police encounter.
According to a senior official, the prohibitory order was imposed in entire Kendrapara town including Barimula, Kapaleswar, Gulnagar and Jamdhar panchayats of the district. The restrictions will remain in force for the next seven days (till 11.00am of July 30, 2021). Poultry, vegetables and grocery shops have been permitted to remain open from 7.00am to 11.00am during this period, the official added.

Meanwhile, Hyder’s wife accused police to have intentionally gunned down her husband. “Police took my husband out of the jail and killed him mid-way claiming that he made escape attempts. The Choudwar jailer and some others are involved in the killing,” the woman said.
Notably, Hyder died while undergoing treatment at Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH) after sustaining bullet injuries in the police encounter. He allegedly snatched a firearm from a cop and tried to flee while he was being shifted to Baripada jail from Cuttack.
