Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: The Commissionerate Police reviewed security arrangements Monday for the upcoming Twenty-20 cricket match between India and South Africa to be played October 5 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
The meeting was attended by Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera and president Ranjit Biswal. Police commissioner RP Sharma said CCTV cameras will be installed at each gate of the Barabati stadium to monitor visitors. Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora will be in charge of the control room, police said.
Private security guards will also be recruited for the event to assist the police in managing entry, traffic, and other security aspects on the day of the match. CCTVs will also be installed near ticket counters which will be regulated by the officer in-charge of the Cantonment police station.
Four fire brigade engines will be stationed in the stadium at different locations. The stadium will be equipped with fire extinguishers and an adequate number of firemen will be deployed.
The teams will arrive in the city October 3. The cricketers and match officials will stay at Hotel Mayfair Lagoon in the city while the hotel’s executive director Soubhagya Mohapatra will look after the teams as the authorised officer of OCA.
Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) will hand over two AC coaches to the Commissionerate Police a day before the team’s arrival for security checks. The coaches will be used to ferry teams from the city hotel to the stadium.
