Seized articles to be sent to forensic lab Monday

Rasulpur: Jajpur police investigating mysterious death of Jharaphula Nayak have intensified their probe raiding six places in the last 24 hours.

SDPO Bijay Kumar Nayak has formed two squads, who have gathered vital clues after raiding the places in Jajpur and Bhubaneswar.

Various articles used by the accused and the deceased are being examined.

All the articles seized from various places will be sent to the forensic laboratory Monday. While the post mortem report is yet to be made available, efforts are on to nab the associate of the accused.

Police Saturday examined the video footage collected from the CCTV cameras installed at the brick kiln and a plastic factory near Mulapala Chowk at Kuakhia along the National Highway-16.

The investigating officials again examined the CCTV footage Sunday. An eight-member team has been set up to investigate the case.

A team of Jajpur police Saturday carried out raid at the hotel in Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar where the deceased Jharaphula and her accused boyfriend Rakesh Kumar Swain stayed on the night of January 26. The couple stayed in room no. 201 of Sibasai Guest House at Dharma Vihar on the said night.

A forensic team accompanying the special squad of the Kuakhia police examined the room and checked the register of the guest house. The police also collected the CCTV footage of the guest house and of one eatery in Bhubaneswar where the couple was spotted having food.
