Senior journalist Dilip Satpathy passes away at 56

Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Dilip Satpathy passed away here late Sunday night at the age of 56.

Sources said that he had been suffering from bone marrow cancer. He suffered a massive stroke at around 12.30am and was immediately rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared him received dead. The body was then taken to Capital Hospital.

Last year, he had undergone radiation therapy, sources added.

A Ravenshaw College alumnus, Dilip started his journalism career from a local English daily.  He later joined Business Standard as a State Correspondent and was then elevated to Resident Editor of its Bhubaneswar edition. He was best known as an economic analyst.

From Capital Hospital, his body was taken to his Satya Nagar residence where leaders, journalists, friends and relatives thronged to pay their respects to the departed soul. His demise shocked the entire media fraternity.

His last rites would be performed at Swarga Dwar in Puri, family sources said.
