Raghunathpur: Unidentified miscreants went on a looting spree at Gualipur village under Raghunathpur police here Sunday night taking away cash and valuables from two houses and a donation box at a mutt.
According to reports, three masked men entered the house of Banalata Pattnaik and decamped with Rs 20,000 after threatening her with sharp weapons. The group also entered the house of Abinash Pattnaik and took away Rs 15,000 and some gold ornaments.
Besides, the miscreants also stole money from a donation box at Mahabir Jew mutt of the village owned by Kabir Gosain. Sources said the thieves had also entered the house of Narayan Pattnaik, but failed to steal anything.
Gyanaranjan Pattnaik, an elderly man of the village, lodged an FIR with the police Monday morning following which a team of police personnel visited the village and conducted a probe.
Some villagers blamed the incidents on absence of night patrolling by the police.
