Sex racket busted, 2 women from Bhubaneswar rescued  

Bhawanipatna: Acting on a tip-off, the Town police here in Kalahandi district busted a sex racket operating from a rented house in Sharma Colony at Tarini Mandir Pada and rescued two women following a raid late Monday night.

The two girls reportedly hailed from Bhubaneswar, it was learnt.

A police team conducted the raid on the rented house and caught the two women and a youth in a compromising position. The cops also seized four mobile phones, condoms, pills, some objectionable items and Rs 1,300 from their possession.

According to sources, the kingpin of the racket is from Bhubaneswar. He had rented the house and engaged the two girls in flesh trade. They used to lure customers through Whatsapp groups and other social media platform.

Locals suspected something amiss in youths visiting the house and tipped off the police. Based on the tip, a police team conducted the raid. The police also arrested the youth who is a native of Bangamunda in Bolangir district.

Police suspected the involvement of more persons and have launched a probe. A case was registered in this connection.

Town Police station IIC Satya Narayan Nanda said, “The kingpin of the racket confirmed that he is a resident of Bhubaneswar and was running the sex racket in the rented house. A case has been registered in this connection and investigation has already begun.

“The accused has been produced before court following medical examination,” he added. The police also suspected the involvement of the house owner and launched a manhunt to detain him for interrogation.
