Sex racket busted; 3 women rescued, 3 held

Berhampur: Acting on a tip-off, police busted a sex racket operating from a rented house at Shakti Nagar, first lane under Nimkhandi police limits in Ganjam district Wednesday. A team from Nimkhandi police station raided a house at first lane in Shaktinagar. The police team caught three women there in compromising positions. The women including one from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh were rescued while the house owner and two youths were arrested. Five mobile phones, liquor bottles, cash worth Rs 5,000, and several objectionable items were seized from the house. The rescued women were handed over to their family members. The arrested accused are house owners Amulya Padhi, Abdul Kalim of Khaja Sahi here, and Surya Kiran Jena of Bhabinipur village.

During probe, police found out that Amulya had been running the sex racket in the house for a long. Abdul and Surya used to lure girls with attractive monetary offers and engage them in the flesh trade. A case was registered in this connection and the accused persons and the women were taken for medical examination. Amulya managed to get bail under Section-41 0f CrPC while the other two accused were produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody
