Shah asks Odisha voters to throw out ‘corrupt’ BJD government

Morada: BJP president Amit Shah said Saturday that Odisha can develop only if the ‘corrupt and inefficient’ BJD government is thrown out.

Addressing a rally here in the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency, Shah said people across the country have resolved that Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister again. And if Odisha has to prosper under leadership of Modi, the first step should be to vote the BJP to power in the state also.

“I have already addressed election meetings in 261 Lok Sabha constituencies. From east to west and north to south, I could hear people chant ‘Modi, Modi’. It is clear, the whole country has resolved to make Modi the Prime Minister once again,” the BJP chief asserted.

Claiming that the rising popularity of BJP is giving sleepless nights to BJD, the BJP chief said the people of Odisha must vote BJP to power both at the Centre and in the state for speedy development.

Shah also accused the BJD of adopting violence to check the rise of the BJP in Odisha. “Twenty of our ‘karyakartas’ (workers) have been killed. The BJD should realise that there is no place for violence. By that they will not be able to stop the BJP surge,” said Shah. He also blamed the BJD government for the chit fund scams in the state and alleged that many of its leaders had made money by corrupt means.

Shah also hit out at previous Congress-led UPA Government accusing it of having failed to deal with Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

The Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are being held together in the state. The fourth phase is scheduled to be conducted, April 29.
