Shah visits today, BJP campaign to get impetus

Baripada: With only a couple of days left for the last phase of elections, the BJP, the BJD and the JMM have upped their ante in their campaign in Mayurbhanj district. However, the campaign of the Congress is said to have lost steam.

BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already campaigned vigorously for the party nominees, while JMM chief Shibu Soren stepped up electioneering of his party nominees in the Mayurbhanj Parliamentary constituency and the Assembly seats under it.

The BJP workers have been waiting eagerly for the visit of party president Amit Shah on the last day of campaigning Saturday. His visit is expected to give an impetus to the saffron party’s campaign on the final day of electioneering before the fourth and final phase of polls in the state.

Shah will address a rally at Patapur in Morada Assembly constituency. Necessary preparations for the party’s rally were over, said Krushnachandra Mohpatra, the BJP’s MLA nominee for Morada Assembly seat.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also attend the rally.

Mohapatra said the BJP government at the Centre has been thinking about setting up a paper mill in Morada, renovation of the Rasagobindapur airstrip and a processing unit for ‘sabai’ grass.

He added that the BJP president will touch upon these issues during his address.

Thirteen candidates are in the fray in the Morada Assembly seat. The BJD has pitted Rajkishore Das against the BJP’s Krushnachandra Mohapatra.

Notably, Das had left the saffron party over ticket distribution and joined the BJD.

The Congress has fielded Prabhakar Mohapatra, while the JMM has given ticket to Kalinga Kehsari Jena.

Meanwhile, all arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of polls in Morada Assembly seat.

In this segment, 2, 24, 215 voters will exercise their franchise April 29.
