Bhubaneswar: Renowned Kuchipudi danseuse and co-chairperson of JSPL Foundation Shallu Jindal has been honoured with Aekalavya Award-2019 for her contribution in the field of ‘Indian Classical Dance’ during the 11th season of the award ceremony held at Singapore’s Victoria Theatre.
She received the award from Padma Vibhushan architect and sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra in presence of eminent Odissi dancers Ileana Citarishti and Saswat Joshi.
Jindal is an acclaimed artiste in Kuchipudi dance style and has dedicated years to contemporise the classical dance across the globe. She is also the founder of Jindal Art institute, which aims to spread the artistic heritage of India and the world by exploring various dance forms.
As the co-Chairperson of JSPL Foundation, Jindal has been enthusiastically encouraging local tribal art, culture and sports in the local communities in and around the areas of operations of JSPL. Under her inspiration, the company pro-actively supports initiatives with a motive to nurture and sustain local form of fine arts and dance.
It may be mentioned here that she has been honoured with various awards, which include International Women’s Day award under the category of ‘Dance’ (IWD award) by Indian Council for UN Relations, Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, Art Karat Award for Excellence for Best Classical Danseuse and remarkable contribution in field of Indian Classical Dance and Artist of the Year Award for contribution in the field of Creative Art and several others.
