She is only six years old but is already a big name in the world of modelling. A Class I student of Sai International School, Bhubaneswar, Mrigakshi R Kumar has represented India in a number of national and international modelling events. Orissa POST caught up with the youngster to learn about her modelling journey.

It was Mrigakshi’s mother, Sanghamitra Patnaik, who first spotted her talent. “I was watching television one day and Mrigakshi started asking me questions. I tried to answer her in my way. Surprisingly, the next morning she repeated those answers without a single mistake. I wondered how a three-year old could remember the answers so perfectly. I realised that she has been gifted with many talents and started nurturing them,” says Sanghamitra, a businesswoman.

The only child of Rakesh Kumar and Sanghamitra, Mrigakshi has quite a few achievements to her credit. As a three-year old, she participated in India’s Got Talent, a talent reality show on Colors channel. She answered 70-80 questions without any mistake. A year later, she was a participant in Sabse Bada Kalakar, an acting reality show for kids on Sony Entertainment Television.

On the show, Mrigakshi showcased her acting skills playing a bride who asks her father on her wedding day why girls have to leave their home and not boys. Her terrific performance brought tears to the eyes of the judges and left them spellbound.

Mrigakshi’s big break on television came at the age of five when she played the title role in Pari, a hit Odia show that was aired on Sarthak Television. This made her an overnight star. Success continued to follow with Mrigakshi winning the Little Miss India title at the age of six. She represented her country at the Mini Little Miss and Master Galaxy 2018 in Bulgaria. Competing against 60 participants, Mrigakshi once again scored big, winning the coveted crown. The same year she also won the Little Miss Butterfly Universe in the Mini Category and the Best National Costume award at an event in Turkey.

Mrigakshi is a brilliant student who is popular among both her friends and teachers and aspires to be an IAS officer one day. She is also the brand ambassador of quite a few institutions and companies.

“We feel proud to be identified as Mrigakshi’s parents. She is often invited to attend events hosted by the government and institutions like KITT and KISS. She was been invited to join campaigns on violence against the girl child and similar other events. We hope she makes her country proud,” says Sanghamitra.
