You must have sneaked into mango orchards and stolen mangoes and have had a blast with your friends. But, have you ever heard of a mango tree oozing out blood?
Yes, there is a mango tree on the land of Panipat, which bleeds. Due to its mysterious happenings, the tree has been named as Amb tree.
However, there is a historical reason behind it. Three wars were fought on the land of Panipat, in 1526, 1556 and 1761 respectively. The third battle of Panipat as fought between the Marathas and the Mughals.
Sadashivrao Bhao from the Marathas and Ahmedshah Abdali led the war on behalf of the Mughals. However, it was victory for Ahmad Shah Abdali.
There is a unique face associated with the black Amb tree. It is said that during the third war, there used to a huge mango orchard in the area. After the fight, soldiers used to rest under it. It is said that the soil of this place became red due to the bloodshed in the war, which also affected the mango trees.
Due to the blood, the color of the mango tree became black and since then this place is known as the Kala Amb Kala Maha. Interesting fact is that juice which are released on cutting the mangoes is red like blood.
