Keeping in mind the mass festivals, this was decided by Sambalpur district Collector Shubham Saxena. The relaxations will be applicable for the time being temporarily on dates as specified. Shutdown restrictions will be imposed August 16 and 17 instead, clarified Saxena by issuing an order in this regard Tuesday.
Notably, weekend shut down restrictions have been imposed in order to prevent any probable spread of coronavirus infection in the days ahead, as COVID-19 positive cases are on the rise here.
The district denizens had earlier demanded relaxation in weekend shutdown restrictions for Nuakhai festival falling August 23. Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra had written a letter to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in this regard.
