Shyamsundar’s passion, hard work brings success

Raisuan: Confidence and hard work are the keys to success. That is what Shyamsundar Mukhi, an artisan who makes idols believes.

Shyamsundar, a 23-year old youth of Raisuan in Keonjhar district has been earning his livelihood by making idols while many of his age waste their time without doing anything worthwhile for livelihood.

He completed graduation from Padmapur Degree College in 2017. Thereafter, he was on the lookout for a job. From childhood he was drawn toward idol making.

“Whenever I see idols being made for festivals I wanted to do that. I take mud, knead it and try to make beautiful idols out of it and apply paints to make them attractive,” he said.

He said that locals were happy with my idols and the first order was for making idols for festivals. “Earnings from initial orders encouraged me to pursue my passion and helped me establish as an idol maker,” he said.

Now, his passion coupled with hard work has become his occupation. As a successful artisan he earns over Rs 2 lakh every year.

He has given a message to the youths of today saying that no work is mean. “If one works hard and is confident he/she will surely taste success and establish oneself.”
