Baripada: Two siblings killed a woman by slitting her throat over past enmity at Mendhamundi village under Raruan police limits in Mayurbhanj district, police said Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Manguli Purty, 27, wife of Nalia Naik in the village. The accused siblings identified as Sana Pingua and Sonu Pingua surrendered at the police station after committing the crime. Police registered a case and produced the duo in court Wednesday.
Police accompanied by a scientific team have launched an investigation into the matter. The incident occurred Tuesday evening when the woman was at her residence with her husband and three children. The siblings came near their house and picked up a quarrel with her over past enmity. Sana flew into a rage after the deceased retorted. He took out a sharp-edged weapon and slit the woman’s throat while his brother caught hold of her husband. The woman’s husband raised an alarm to save his wife but no one in the village dared to come to the spot to rescue them. Bleeding profusely and with no help coming, the woman died on the spot.
