Siddharth Shankar Swain appointed new collector of Angul

Angul: The Odisha government has promoted Siddharth Shankar Swain to post of collector in Angul district. Prior to his new appointment Swain was working as sub-collector of Berhampur in Ganjam district. Swain joined office Monday afternoon. He replaces Manoj Kumar Mohanty the previous collector of the district.

“I will try and see to it that the people of Angul district get benefits of all government-run programmes,” 2014 batch IAS officer Swain said after joining office. “I will also try to manage the COVID-19 situation in the district in an effective manner”, added Swain.

Swain earned reputation as good administrator during his tenure as sub-collector in Berhampur. His efforts to control traffic in the city, curbing the excessive usage of polythene and building up of the Senior Citizen Welfare Committee received positive responses from youths and senior citizens alike.

Swain has also contributed in setting up the ‘Wall of Kindness’ programme. It provides used clothes to the poor.

In the district collectorate office Additional Collector Tapan Kumar Sathpathy, sub-collector Basudev Satpathy and district rural development agency project director Dillip Sahoo and other officers welcomed Swain on his first day of work.
