Cuttack: Kali Puja will be celebrated in the silver city this year akin to Durga Puja , informed DCP Prateek Singh Monday.
The puja will be performed in the district without the usual throng of devotees in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
As there is a huge chance of public congregation during the community celebration of Kali Puja that may result in rapid spread of COVID-19 in the city, we will not allow community celebration of Kali Puja,” said Singh.
Singh said that the limit for height of the idols has been fixed at 4 feet and all the puja committees have already been informed in this regard.
“Total 15 platoons of police force and 50 government officials will be deployed across the city in order to check the proper implementation of COVID-19 guidelines during the puja.”, added Singh.
While idol immersion procession and cultural programmes have not been permitted, as many as 11 temporary ponds will be created for immersion of the idols, he said.
