Similipal to reopen for visitors Nov 1

Baripada: Similipal sanctuary in Mayurbhanj district will reopen for tourists from November 1, said Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities Saturday.

Tourists will be allowed to enter the sanctuary through gates at Pithabata (Lulung) and Kaliani (Jashipur). Entry permissions will be available at the two gates from 6 am to 9 am.

As per the decision of the STR authorities, 35 four-wheelers carrying tourists will only be allowed through Kaliani gate while 25 will be allowed through Pithabata gate every day.

The STR has put in place some guidelines for visitors. Tourists were asked to leave Joranda and Bareipani waterfalls by 3 pm and leave Chahala by 4 pm.

In case of breakdown of vehicle inside the sanctuary, the tourists were asked to deposit Rs 4,000 in advance so that they can be shifted to Jashipur in such a scenario. Taking a guide in each vehicle has been made mandatory. Tourists keen to book their stay at Yatri Niwas at Kumari, Gudugudia, Ramtirtha and Jamuani will have to book in advance through the website www.ecotourismodisha.com.

Tourists are expected to leave Pithabata, Tulasibani and Kaliani gates by 5 pm, it was learnt.
