Ranu Mondal who became an overnight star ever since her rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’ went viral on the internet has reunited with her daughter Swati after a long time.

A picture of Ranu embracing Swati has recently surfaced over social media and fans just cannot get enough of it.

Ranu and her daughter were not in touch with each other for quite a while. It was only after Ranu’s video spread like wildfire on social media that Swati managed to pin her down.

A native of Krisnanagar in Nadia, Ranu spent most of her childhood in Ranaghat at her aunt’s place following the death of her mother. Her voter-ID card which was issued at Ranaghat shows her name as Ranu Roy which suggests that Roy was her surname prior to her wedding.

Recently, Ranu recorded a song with Hindi film composer Himesh Reshammiya.

“Salman (Khan) bhai’s father Salim uncle once advised me that whenever in life I come across a talented person, I should never let that person go and keep him/her close to me. He advised me to help that person grow his/her talent,” Himesh said after meeting Ranu.

“Today, I met Ranuji and I feel that she is blessed with divinity. Her singing was mesmerising and I could not stop myself from offering her the best I could. She has a god’s gift which needs to be shared with the world and by singing in my upcoming movie, ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’, I think I will help her voice reach everyone,” Himesh had promised.

And the composer did keep her promise by bringing Ranu to the music studio to record the song titled ‘Teri Meri Kahani’.

“I am very happy about performing the song which is given to me by Himesh Reshammiya. I sang one Bengali song in Kolkata and one new Hindi song in Delhi,” Ranu said after recording in Mumbai.

Suffice to say that Ranu has had quite a run in the last few weeks.
