Beijing: It is a common trend in China to see woman sacrificing their personal lives to boost their careers. In China, the situation is alarming – women are forgoing marriage to pursue success in their respective jobs. In essence it led to a sharp decline in the marriage rate in the country.
In China, unmarried women of 25 to 30 years old are called Sheng Nu (Leftover woman). For these women, the Chinese companies are coming up with a special leave policy. According to it, these women will be given eight more holidays in a year so that they can spend time going on a date, or finding the perfect life partner and tie the nuptial knot.
So why have companies opted for such a change? This is because a drastic transformation has been noticed in China’s population which is not growing. Despite the ‘One Child Policy’ being annulled, there has been a sharp decline rate in Chinese population.
According to the Chinese Citizens’ Ministry, after 2013, there has been a decrease in marriage percentage every year. Now approximately 20 crore elderly people are living unmarried life.
This is the reason why the companies are providing more number of holidays so that they can find their life companions and live a family life whereby their reproduction capacity may also help grow their families.
