BHUBANESWAR: A press conference held at SIRD and PR conference hall in SIRD campus briefed the media about a 10-day-long fair Sisir Saras 2019, which will be conducted at Exhibition Ground here from January 4 to 14, 2019.
Briefing the media about the fair, Minister of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Pradeep Maharathy said, “The fair will be organised by ORMAS under the aegis of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department. The chief aim of the fair is to create a market linkage of rural people for selling of handicrafts and cottage industry products. Around 302 numbers of stalls will be setup. Finest production groups from 24 states will participate in the fair.”
ORMAS chairman D K Singh said, “From colourful candle works of Tamil Nadu to bamboo handicrafts of Assam, everything would be made available in the fair. Products like Tussar garments of Chhattisgarh, handicrafts, silk items of Uttar Pradesh and goodies from Gujarat will mesmerise the buyers.”
Besides, self help groups from 30 districts of Odisha shall also participate with an expectation to sell their goods at good prices at the fair. From Handicrafts of Koraput to Kaincha work of Kendrapara, the fair will exhibit unlimited handicrafts for buyers across the state. Soulful Odissi performances, Rock Band music and light comedy shows would also be a part of the event.
