Six-hour bandh affects normal life in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: The BJP observed a six-hour bandh across Bhadrak district in protest against the state government’s delay in allotting land for Indian Oil’s proposed polyster yarn unit.

The agitators staged a blockade on NH-16 which affected the movement of vehicles on the stretch running from Ranital to Bhandaripokhari.

The protesters also staged a rail-roko at Manjuri road station under Bhandaripokhari block, halting the Jajpur-Kharagpur passenger and a goods train.

Similarly, educational institutions remained closed. Business establishment also downed their shutters. However emergency services were exempted from bandh.

Indian Oil has initiated for the textile project at a cost of Rs 1, 671 crore on 75 acres of land after an agreement was signed with Odisha government November 30, 2017.
