Six hurt in group clash over land dispute

Cuttack: At least six persons including four women were injured in a group clash that ensued at Sukarpada village under Nischintakoili police limits in Cuttack district Saturday night over a land dispute.

According to reports, a longstanding dispute over the ownership of a patch of land between one Sona Khan and Sheikh Nizam’s family in the locality took an ugly turn Saturday night and sparked a clash.

Following an initial verbal duel, family members of Sona barged into Sheikh’s house and attacked the residents with wooden planks. Later, the fight intensified as members of both families attacked each other with sharp weapons.

On receipt of information, police intervened and restored normalcy.

All the injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where their conditions are stated to be critical.

While police have started investigation into the incident, two persons have been detained for their involvement in the clash.
