Sambalpur: Hirakud dam authorities have opened six sluice gates to release excess flood water, a report said.
According to the report, the outflow is 1, 17, 762 cusecs per second and the inflow into the reservoir is 1, 71, 453 cusecs per second.
18, 535 cusecs of water is being released through power channel, 2, 619 cusecs through various canals and 170 cusecs of water is being released for industrial use.
Similarly, 66, 400 cusecs of water is flowing at Belagaon, a downstream location, 3, 4, 960 cusecs at Parthala, 5, 98, 000 cusecs at Khairmal, 5, 52, 000 cusecs at Baramula and 2, 87, 379 cusecs of water is flowing at Munduli, the report said.
According to the dam authorities, the water level of the reservoir is increasing as its upper end is receiving more rains. Burla and Hirakud recorded 3.1mm and 1.5mm rainfall respectively.
Earlier, flood water was being released through 12 gates. Six gates have been closed.
