SJTA, admin ready for Suna Besa Friday

Puri: Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra would be adorned with Suna Besa (golden attire) at the Srimandir sanctum sanctorum on the occasion of Kartik Purnima November 23 (Friday).

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the district administration have made all arrangements for smooth organisation of Suna Besa or Rajarajeswar Besa of the presiding deities.

The district administration would deploy altogether 40 platoons of armed police personnel in and around Srimandir and some other strategic places in the city to maintain law and order during the Suna Besa ritual.

The administration has installed a three-tier barricade at the Lions’ Gate of Srimandir to regulate the expected heavy crowd. “Devotees would be allowed to enter the shrine through the Lions’ Gate only. They can exit Srimandir through the other three gates. Adequate steps would be taken to prevent unnecessary rush on the temple precincts,” said a SJTA official.

The presiding deities were adorned with Laxminrusingha Besa at the sanctum sanctorum on the fourth day of Panchaka ritual Thursday. The deities were decorated with crowns, earrings and other decorative pieces on the occasion.

Lord Jagannath and his elder brother Lord Balabhadra were adorned with their respective weapons during the ritual. Large number of devotees gathered at Srimandir to witness the ritual.
