SJTA ready to welcome devotees on New Year’s Day

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has started elaborate preparations to manage huge crowd at Srimandir on the New Year’s Day.

The temple administration has Wednesday convened a meeting to finalise measures to ensure smooth darshan for the devotees January 1. SJTA chief administrator PK Mohapatra held discussions on various servitors’ groups and sought their cooperation for timely conduct of rituals at the shrine on the New Year’s Day.

“Around 5 lakh devotees are expected to throng the Srimandir January 1 for which servitors have been advised to perform the rituals as per schedule. We may effect certain changes in the performance of some rituals depending upon the situation,” Mohapatra said.

According to Mohapatra, the temple administration has started erecting barricades at the Lions’ Gate to manage huge inflow of devotees. “The district superintendent of police and the city municipal executive officer have inspected the work for putting up barricades at Lions’ Gate. We would relocate vendors from the North Gate of the shrine to ensure hassle-free exit of devotees,” Mohapatra said.
