Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) would soon tighten the noose around the erring servitors and introduce a system to monitor conduct of rituals at Srimandir.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the SJTA Friday.
Presiding over the meeting, SJTA chief administrator PK Mohapatra stressed timely performance of all routine and special rituals at the 12th century shrine.
“The SJTA would not tolerate any indiscipline at Srimandir. We have asked the servitors to perform rituals as per the schedule. Violation of any sort would compel the temple administration to initiate disciplinary action,” Mohapatra said.
According to Mohapatra, Tadhaukaran and Bhitarchha servitors would monitor the performance of rituals from opening of Srimandir gate to Sakaldhoopa every day. Similarly, Deulakaran and Pattajoshi Mahapatra servitors would ensure timely performance of rituals from Sakala Dhoopa to Sandhya Alati.
Besides, Srimandir commander and Taluchha servitor would supervise the rituals from Sandhya Alati to Pahuda, Mohapatra said.
The SJTA chief made it clear that they would hold back one fourth of a servitor’s daily remuneration for 15 minute delay in the performance of any ritual.
The administration would withhold half of the daily remuneration of a servitor for 30 minute delay in the performance of ritual. The entire remuneration of the day and other dues of a servitor would not be paid for an hour’s delay, said Mohapatra.
“Our motto is not to withhold the remuneration of servitors. We are concerned about timely performance of rituals,” said the SJTA chief.
Srimandir sources said representatives of various servitors’ groups and SJTA officials would meet every Wednesday to deliberate on various issues.
