Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA) is taking significant steps to create employment opportunities for skilled drivers from the state. According to an official press release, STA Commissioner Amitabh Thakur inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the chairman of HR Navis Rajkumar Sambandam in the presence of Commerce and Transport Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, Tuesday. The signing of the MoU has created the possibility of employment in Japan for drivers trained under the Subahaka Yojana. The state government, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, operates four free heavy vehicle driving training centers located in Palur (Ganjam), Bonai (Sundargarh), Chhatia (Jajpur), and Kendujhar districts.
In these Centres, eligible individuals are provided with free training in an ultra-modern training set-up, food, and accommodation along with allowance and a driving license which is rare in the country. The STA strives to get employment for the drivers who have been successfully trained at these centres. It is pertinent to mention here that Navis HR is a leading agency in the country for providing overseas employment. In this context, the signing of the MoU has created a huge potential. In the future, eligible drivers from the state will get an opportunity to fetch high-salary jobs in Japan
