Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in a letter asked the president of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) to withdraw the form fill-up notification for the annual Matric Examination in Odisha.
Minister Dash has directed Ramashis Hazra, the president of the Board of Secondary Education to withdraw the notification immediately.
It is worth mentioning here that the Board had issued a notification November 5 announcing that the Board would soon fix a date of form fill-up for the Matric examination.
The Board’s notification had left students and their parents a worried lot.
The latest development has come as a breather for students as well as their parents across the state.
Some parents alleged that the students have not gone to schools since mid-March as all the educational institutions were closed following the outbreak of COVID-19. The students were promoted to Class X even though they did not sit for all subjects.
This apart, the online class facility has not reached even 20 to 25 per cent of the total Class X students. And, even though the government has reduced the syllabus by 30 per cent, it is still doubted whether the rest 70 per cent will be completed in the period ahead or not.
Meanwhile, the government has announced the closure of school till December 31 as there is strong possibility of second wave of COVID-19 cases in the winter.
