Malkangiri/Ganjam: Snake Helpline members rescued an eight-foot long python from COVID-19 hospital of Malkangiri, Wednesday evening.
Sources said patients of the hospital spotted the snake crawling on the verandah of the COVID hospital after heavy rainfall in the area. Then the hospital authority informed the Snake Helpline members about the same.
On being informed they reached at the spot and rescued the snake which was an Indian rock python.

It was later handed over to the Forest Department and eventually released into the nearby forest.
In a similar incident, a nine-foot long king cobra was rescued from a temple at Chaitanpur Sasan under Patrapur block of of Ganjam district Wednesday night.
Sources said, the temple’s priest spotted the snake while he was returning to his home after finishing the evening and night rituals of the deities. He informed the villagers about the same who in turn alerted the snake helpline member and forest officials.
The officials along with the snake helpline member reached at the spot and rescued the reptile.
The animal was later released into the nearby reserve forest.
