Daringbadi: Cold wave at Daringbadi in Kandhamal district intensified Sunday as temperature slipped several degrees below resulting in snowfall.
Darigbadi is coldest today with the temperature slipping below 3 degrees. Many places like Kilabadi, Sasakuti, Bhramarbadi, Greenbadi, Linepada, Sirkabarga, Danekbadi, Pliheri, Siangbali, Silabadi, Silabadi and Tilori including Daringbadi were also lashed the snowfall.
Heavy snowfall was seen at Mahadaganda as a result of which the cold wave intensified further. It seemed as if Daringbadi is covered in a white blanket.
In view of the shivering cold, people are staying indoors and the area dons a deserted look till 11 am in the morning.
Tourists of Odisha and other states are thronging to Daringbadi to witness the snowfall but the denizens of the region are indoors curled up in blankets and abating chills and shivers.
“Tourists coming here are also facing problems. Arrangements for their night stay should be done at the earliest,” said Dillip Kumar Sahoo, an employee of the electricity department.
According to reports, Daringbadi recorded a temperature of 5.5 degrees Wednesday while Thursday the temperature soared up to 10 degrees and Friday the temperature even increased to 13 degrees. However, the mercury dropped to 6 degrees Saturday and it further slipped triggering intense cold Sunday.
