SOG, Maoists exchange fire in Kalahandi; camp busted

Bhawanipatna: A Maoist camp was busted and explosives were seized after a brief exchange of fire between SOG commandoes and Red Rebels in Gunduri reserve forest under this police limits of Kalahandi district Wednesday evening.

According to a source, the incident took place during a combing operation by SOG jawans in the forested area. After coming under fire by Maoists, the SOG commandoes retaliated that made the extremists abandon their position and flee.

After reaching the camp, the jawans discovered blood stains on leaves and grass, indicating at least one injury on the ultra’s part in the gun fight.

“The raiding jawans seized two blasting gelatins, one detonator, one tiffin bomb, seven umbrellas and other articles from the camp. Combing operation in the area has been intensified and the jawans have covered the forest from all sides,” informed superintendent of police (SP) B Gangadhar.
