Binjharpur: A mother along with her two daughters allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison, anguished over the death of her son, at Padasahi in Guhali panchayat of this block in Jajpur district Thursday morning.
The three took the extreme step after their son died in Kerala in a mysterious condition May 29. Villagers rescued the trio and rushed them to Jajpur district hospital in a 108 ambulance.
Mantu Jena (22), son of Panchu Jena. was working in Kerala. It is suspected that he died of deadly Nipah virus. His mysterious death was reported May 29. Being unable to bear the shock, mother Ketaki (48) and his two sisters Gurubari (25) and Mamata (20) tried to end their lives.
