Junagarh: A special Junagarh Road-Bhubaneswar Express train (18437-18438 was flagged off from here in Kalahandi district to Bhubaneswar at 4:30pm Saturday.
According to the time table, the train leaves Bhubaneswar station at 10:35pm and reaches Junagarh Road station at 11:30am the next day. Similarly, the train leaves Junagarh Road station at 4:30pm and reaches Bhubaneswar station at 6:30am the next day.
Earlier, the train used to go to Junagarh Road station while attached to Hirakhand Express. Both the trains used to detach from each other at Rayagada and from there another engine used to pull it up to Junagarh Road station.
For dedication of the train line, a ceremony was scheduled to be held at 3:00 pm on the premises of Junagarh Road station. The programme was cancelled in the light of the demise of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley. Energy, Industry & MSME minister Divya Shankar Mishra, Leader of opposition cum Bhawanipatna MLA Pradeepta Kumar Nayak, Kalahandi MP Basant Kumar Panda and former minister Himanshu Shekhar Meher were present on the occasion.
