Jharsuguda: SpiceJet will launch direct flight services from Jharsuguda to Mumbai and Bangalore October 25 onwards. This certainly will benefit people of western Odisha who in the past had to first come to Bhubaneswar or Kolkata before travelling to either Mumbai or Bangalore. The information about the direct flight services to Mumbai and Bangalore was given by the Jharsuguda’s Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, director, Kishore Kumar Senapati.
According to Senapati, the flight service from Jharsuguda to Mumbai will be started under UDAN-RCS scheme. UDAN stands for ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik’ and RCS stands for ‘Regional Connectivity Scheme’.
“The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has given permission for the flights,” informed Senapati.
Flight services from this city has resumed from June 1 when the Unlock 1.0 phase was on.
It should be stated here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Jharsuguda airport in September, 2018. It is the second full-fledged airport in Odisha after the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.
