Srabani takes top honours

Bhubaneswar:  Srabani Nanda of Orissa won the best women’s athlete award in the three-day long All India Railway Athletic Meet, which concluded at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Friday. Srabani bagged double gold medals in the 100 and 200 metres sprint. 
Srabani won the gold medal in the 200 metres by clocking 24.03 seconds on the concluding day.  Dutee Chand grabbed the silver medal by clocking 24.50 seconds.
Earlier on the inaugural day, Srabani had clinched the gold medal in the 100 metres with a timing of 11.52 seconds. Dutee Chand won the silver medal by finishing the race in 11.79 seconds.

Damayanti bags silver

Damayanti Murmu of Orissa secured a silver medal in the women’s javelin event of the 13th Federation Cup National Junior Athletic Championship at Hyderabad, Friday. Damayanti threw the Javelin to a distance of 39.89 metres to finish second. Puspa (46.58 metres) of Hyderabad clinced the gold, while Rojna (39.89 metres) of Kerala won the bronze.

 Grassroots centre

 First Grassroots Football Centre of Football Association of Orissa (FAO) was inaugurated at the Bidanasi Ground in Cuttack, Friday. “Thirty kids in both the male and female categories will be trained here routinely,” FAO stated in a press release Friday.
