Srimandir land: Govt to conduct survey for land acquisition

Puri: The Revenue department of the state government has issued a notification for a survey to acquire land within 75-metre radius of Srimandir here for beautification of the shrine surroundings and enhancement of security measures.

According to the notification, a social impact assessment (SIA) survey would be conducted for the land acquisition as per Section 4 of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

As per the notification, the administration will acquire altogether 15.191 acre land for beautification as well as security enhancement projects.

The administration will acquire 12.5445 acre private land and 2.6465 acre government land at Baselisahi, Manikarnika Sahi, Kalikadevi Sahi, Dolamandap Sahi and Chudanga Sahi in the Holy City here.

The state government has constituted a special team of 30 officers to expedite the process for the land acquisition. Besides, a special control room has been opened to accept grievances from the people who would be displaced for the land acquisition.

The control room will also provide information for government’s compensation and rehabilitation package for the displaced people.

This apart, government officials will hold discussions with the families whose houses or landed properties come within 75-metre radius of Srimandir.

“The state government has issued a notification for the SIA survey with regard to land acquisition around Srimandir. The survey will start Thursday,” said Puri sub-collector Bhabatarana Sahu.
