SSEPD to amplify skill development for differently-abled

Bhubaneswar: The state department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) has now decided to amplify the ambit of skill development trainings it give to the differently-abled to increase their virtues.
The department has now decided to introduce some new trades where the differently-abled could be given trainings to boost their employability and their self-entrepreneurship skills. According to the new plan of the department the differently-abled population from the state would be free to undertake free skill development trainings on hospitality, fabrication, refrigeration and air-conditioning in the state capital.
The Pokhariput-based National Career Service Centre for Differently-abled (NCSCDA) would be the nodal agency to provide such trainings to the eligible differently-abled population. The NCSCDA which is a constituent body of the central government imparts skill development training to the differently-abled. It also works with the state government in their schemes to assist the differently-abled population from the state.
The institute now provides several trainings to them like in tailoring, mobile repairing, beautician, tool making, repairing and others. The SSEPD department has now asked the NCSCDA to take immediate steps to conduct the skill development training in these courses and also mandated it to hire the concerned service provider agency for the same.
The SSEPD department has been entrusted with the task of taking care of the welfare of the differently-abled people in the state. They are mandated to make policies which can ensure the skill development of the vulnerable section to ensure their employability capacity and skill development is increased. According to the 2011 Census, 1,244,402 people in Odisha have been living with some form of disability in different age group.
