Mumbai: Usually it is said that kids belonging to stars of the Hindi film industry have an easy entry into movies. The recent entrants being Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s kid Sarah Ali Khan. Both have had successful openings and then there are others like Sunny Deol’s son Karan and Chunky Pandey’s daughter Ananya who are set to make a big splash.
But then the fates of all star kids are not the same. Orissa POST takes a look at all those who failed to make it big despite the backing of their parents.
Puru Rajkumar: The son of the legendary Raajkumar who is considered one of the legends of the Hindi film industry, Puru made his debut in 1996 with ‘Bal Brahmachari’. The last time he was seen on the silver screen was in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Action Jackson’. He has also appeared in the Salman Khan starrer ‘Veer’ but could never really make a place for himself.
Zayed Khan: Unlike his father Sanjay Khan, this ‘Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne’ (2203) hero has not been able to establish his place in Mumbai. Even the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004) failed to revive his career. Most of his films flopped and he later forayed into TV. His last film, where he played a prominent role was ‘Tezz’ (2012) which also had Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor.
Love Sinha: Son of the veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, his film career lasted just two films. Unlike sister Sonakshi, Love couldn’t really make it big. His first film Sadiyaan (2010) was a flop. Seven years after his debut, Love got a role in JP Dutta’s ‘Paltan’ which again flopped at the box office.
Harman Baweja: He will be remembered more for his romance with Priyanka Chopra than his acting skills. The son of producer-director Harry Baweja, he debuted in ‘Love Story 2050’ in 2008 with Priyanka. It did not have the cash boxes ringing at the box office. His other films were ‘What’s Your Raashee’ and ‘Victory’ in 2009 and ‘Dishkiyaaon’ (2014). All flopped and since then not much has been heard about Harman.
Mahaakshaya Chakraborty: The son of Mithun Chakraborty tried his luck both in the Hindi and the Bengal film industry. However, all his films flopped despite his father making guest appearances in the movies to attract the fans. ‘Mimoh’ as he is popularly known failed to cash in on the support he got. His list of flops include ‘Jimmy’ (2008), ‘Haunted’ (2011) and Rocky (Bengali, 2012).
Fardeen Khan: Feroz Khan’s son was considered to be an actor with potential, but his alleged tryst with drugs ended his career prematurely. He debuted with Love Aggan (1998) opposite another newcomer Celina Jaitley. He got the ‘Filmfare Best Debut Award’ for the film. Among the other films which achieved considerable box office success were Jungle (2000), Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001) and Pyar Tune Kya Kiya (2001), Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Bhoot (2003), the romance Janasheen (2003), No Entry (2005), Heyy Babyy (2007) and a few others. The last time he was seen on the screen was in Dulha Mil Gaya (2010).
