New Delhi: The state pollution control board (SPCB) in its annual report for 2017-18 stated that Odisha generates 12092.204 tonne of plastic waste every year.
According to the SPCB report, there are two plastic manufacturing units and one recycling unit in the state. The report also said that the plastic waste is being utilised for co-processing in cement plant in the state and the state government has also imposed complete ban on plastic carry bags.
However, the SPCB in its report on status of plastic waste management in Odisha stated that complete information has not been provided by the authorities.
The pollution control body also stated that the authorities had not provided data regarding unregistered manufacturing or recycling units in the state neither any data was provided in respect to number of violations and action taken on non compliance of provisions of Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016.
The SPCB report said that out of 114 urban local bodies in the state, only 25 submitted annual report of plastic management in their areas to the pollution control body.
