Bhubaneswar: The state government has declared complete shutdown of Odisha Assembly for Friday and suspended all operations after a relative of an employee tested positive for COVID-19, informed Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
As per regular schedule, the Assembly will remain close during the weekend shutdown also.

“The decision regarding future operation of the Assembly will be taken Monday,” added Patro.
Odisha reported Friday the highest single-day spike in the state with 755 new positive COVID-19 cases. Among the new infections, 508 were in quarantine while 247 others were local contacts. With the new infections the number of active cases now stands at 4,476.
Six fatalities were also reported Friday. Out of the six deceased, four are from Ganjam district and one each from Sundargarh and Bhadark districts. There were two other deaths due to comorbidities. Ganjam district once more emerged as the main hotspot of COVID-19 infection with 320 fresh cases.
