Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday accused the state government of working against the welfare of women and the differently-abled and said that the BJD government is not capable of ensuring the efficiency of government institutions that look after these issues.

Commenting on the state of affairs of women in the state, Golak Mohapatra, BJP’s state unit spokesperson said, “The party only sheds crocodile tears. The incidents of crime against women are on the rise, while the vacant positions at the State Women Commission depict their sheer helplessness in curbing the issues.”

He further said that the BJD lacks the ability to fill the posts reflecting the party’s anti-women stand. This has exposed the BJD’s attitude in dealing with cases relating to crime against women.

When asked about the fate of differently-abled in the state during examinations, Mohapatra said, “BJD government is failing in all areas. We have been demanding for accessibility to the differently-abled to examination centers but in the recent state examinations, they were taken by their attendants to the exam halls. There cannot be anything worse than that.”
